Welcome - It's a New Year!

It's our Page Pattern blog-a-versary this month! I can't believe it has been a year since we began.

I will continue to add to our Page Pattern Blog through 2011. To help keep the confusion to a minimum I decided to go back and number each of our patterns. Now, if you are printing the patterns, you can keep better track. :)

As the number of Page Patterns continue grow you may find it easier to navigate and find the patterns you need using our "Catagories" links listed in the right side bar. You will find patterns listed by the number of "photo spots" available and 'style' of Pattern.

Mosaic Moments Grid Paper (used to create all page patterns shown) is available in multiple shades and sizes (12x12, 8.5x11, 8x8, and 6x6). It can be purchased online at SNAPNCROP.com.

Finally Thirteen - by Tami Potter

This is one of my favorite page patterns. In this case I chose to fill the entire page with photos. The 2.125 x 2.125 inch blocks make great embellishment spots. Use them to add a little of your favorite patterned paper or stamp designs. I used the bottom border on the page to add a little hand written title - "Finally 13."

Mosaic Moments pattern 49 - Three Uncropped 4x6 Photos

PP51

Page Pattern Description: This page patterned was designed to fit three full size (4 x 6 inch) photos. Three blocks are sized 4.375 x 6.625 (two vertical or portrait shots and one horizontal or landscape shot.) The remaining space is filled with mosaic cut photos.

CMas@TBusch wb

You will notice that a 4x6 photo doesn't completely fill the 4.375 x 6.625 inch mat space that has been cut to fit the grid. I like to use the excess space to add journaling or embellishments (such as the ribbon shown above).

Mosaic Moments pattern 48 - Title Strip and Mosaic Accents

. PP52

Page Pattern Description: Left border is created with twelve 1 inch squares topped by a 4.375 x 2.125 inch block. Nine 1x1 inch squares sit next to a 3.25 x 5.5 inch block in the top section of the page just above a 1 x 8.875 title or Journaling spot.  Under the title block are three blocks sized 6.625 x 4.375, 4.375 x 4.375, and 2.125 x 4.375.

Fun & Games wb

On the page above, I "flipped" the page pattern to create a mirror image for the second page. The "flip" allowed me to continue the long title onto the second page. With a slight alteration on the second page (right page - I made two blocks into one large block), I was able to accommodate a 4x6 portrait (vertical) photo.

Mosaic Moments pattern 47 - Flip It - Mosaic Style

PP50

Page Pattern Description: Top row - left to right: 3.25h x 4.375w, 3.25h x 3.25w, and 3.25h x 3.25w. Next - Six 2.125h x 2.125w inch blocks are positioned beside a 6.625h x 4.375w inch mat. Several 1x1 inch blocks finish the page with mosaic style.

Tampa Busch1 wb

Tampa Busch Gardens by Tami Potter

Page Note: I decided to use one 4x6 photo to fill the Six 2.125 inch squares shown. I cut my photo into six 2x2 inch squares - which of course didn't fit the grid. so, I used my 2.125 inch square punch to create six mats and I layered my 2x2 inch photo squares on top.

I show a lot of page patterns using just one 12x12 page. You might wonder... "How can I create a double page spread using one pattern?"

Here is one suggestion:

Flip it! and create a mirror image for the second page.

Mosaic Moments pattern 46 - Step Down Journal Blocks

PP49

Page Pattern Description: A series of 6 3.25 x1 inch blocks create space for a step down title on this pattern. Three focal spots measure (two) 3.25w x 5.5h (one) 5.5w x 3.25h. and the additional space is a series of 1x1 inch squares - mosaic style.

Summer splash wb

Note: On the 5th row down (left side) I altered the pattern to accommodate an image I felt needed to be left in a strip verses mosaic squares.

Mosaic Moments pattern 45 - "Bulletin Board" Border

PP31

Page Pattern Description: An 1h x 6.625w title Strip, 6.625h x 6.625w square, and a 3.25h x 6.625w block make up the left side of this pattern. A little less structured, the right size of the page includes 4 small images/elements layered over a 4.375w x 11.125h block.

  Halloscream 2009wb

To give myself a little variety from the structured gird, I covered the right side of the grid with patterned paper and tilted the photos to give it a "bulletin board" feel.

Mosaic Moments pattern 43 - Striped Background

PP47

Pattern Description: A striped background works to highlight the main focal photo on this page pattern that utilizes three horizontal shots.

Block Sizes: Ten (striped) blocks are 1 x 5.5 inches. Top focal photo mat size 4.375 x 6.375 (photo size 4 x 6). A 1x12 inch strip creates the border style journal spot. Two lower photo spots 3.25 x 5.5. Ten 1x1 inch blocks create the bottom border.

Materials used: Mosaic Moments 12x12 Petal Pink Grid Paper, Basic Grey (6x6 inch) patterned paper, Marvy strawberry punch, white cardstock (used to mat top photo.)

Tip: Add a little removable adhesive to the back of your patterned paper before placing on your mat (just like you would a photo) to quickly cut 1 x 5.5 inch strips for background stripes.

Mosaic Moments pattern 42 - Title and Journaling Stacks

PP21

Pattern Description: A large focal spot (mat size 5.5w x 6.625h) is flanked by Title and Journal Stacks.

Block sizes (clockwise from upper left): Three 3.25w x 1 inch title strips, 5.5w x 6.625h mat, 2.125w x 3.25h photo block, three 2.125 x 1 inch journal strips, two 3.25 x 2.125 inch photo blocks, one 5.5w x 4.375h photo spot, two 2.125 x 2.125 inch squares, and one 3.25 x 3.25 inch photo block.

SnowDay2010 wb

Materials used: Mosaic Moments 12x12 Navy Grid Paper. Cosmo Cricket patterned paper and chip board embellishment. Basic Grey sticker letters.

Snow Day detail:

SnowDaydetail wb I decided I wanted to use a photo, instead of journaling, on the right, where I suggested "journal stacks." A trail of footprints left in the snow gave me the "perfect" option.

Turned out it was "almost perfect" - the 4x6 photo came up a little short for the space allowed. The top block measures 3.25 inch, I needed 3 additional 1 inch strips; but, I could only get two.

I used the lack of adequate photo height as an opportunity to add a patterned paper border for embellishment. What would a snow day page be without a little hot cocoa. :)

Color Note: The above page was created on Mosaic Moments Sunflower Grid Paper. I used Petal Pink Paper Tiles to mat the photos. Sunflower and Petal Pink are not colors I would have typically combined; but, I was inspired by the daisy's in my mosaic cut photo. They have soft pink petals surrounded a bright yellow center. They are beautiful; so, I decided to give the combination a try. I added a touch of "soft rose" ink to stain around the edges of the Sunflower Grid Paper to give it a softer look.

Mosaic Moments pattern 34 - Mixin' It Up - 5 Spot

PP41

Page Pattern Description: This Puzzle style pattern creates space for 3 large photo spots and two smaller photo spots. Block sizes (clockwise from upper left): Four 1 inch square blocks border the top of a 4.375 x 4.375 block, 2.125 x 4.375, 4.375 x 6.625, seven 1 inch blocks create a corner border around a 3.25 x 3.25 block, 6.625 x 4.375, 1 x 4.375 inch strip, all surround the 2.125 x 2.125 center block.

In the page below I used the bottom left corner mat to display two smaller photos instead of one larger one. The 4.375x 4.375 photo spot was used for journaling.

"M&M World - Times Square" by Tami Potter

When I thought about creating this page I knew I wanted to use close up shots of the M&M candy (which I had not taken in NY). Thankfully M&M's are not difficult to find. Kevin offered to pick up a bag at the store on the way home. I placed the candy in a pie pan and snapped several shots before it began to "mysteriously" disappear.

I let the photos act as my title and journaling (only adding names, location, and date to the side of the upper right mat.)

PP20

Page Pattern Description: 5 horizontal strips are poised for playing with patterns on this single focal point page. Each strip is 11.125 inches in width. Two of the strips are 1 inch in height, two are 2.125 inches, and the largest (center) strip is 4.375 in.

Cousins Care wb

Note: I used a mirror image of the pattern above to compliment the direction of my focal photo.

This is not my "typical" style. It is rare that I have plenty of space for anything other than photos; but, I had a couple of challenges and I needed to do something a little different. The challenges were:

  1. I had only two photos to work with.
  2. They were digital files sent to me via e-mail and could not be blown up to a larger print size without serious quality issues.

My solution was to create a page that used multiple patterned papers (from the Basic Grey Phoebe collection.) Using various heights of border strips allowed me to create a "horizontal pattern field."   I used an over-sized mat to give my focal photo a little extra presence on the page. (I didn't want it to get "lost" in all the color and variety.)

Because I used a busy pattern on the largest border strip I wasn't able to journal directly onto the paper (as I originally planned when creating the pattern). I used a sheet of white card stock - which seemed a little to plain on it's own; so, I added an 1/8th inch mat in brown to match the mat on the focal photo.

Mosaic Moments pattern 25 - Variation of a Chunky Pinwheel

PP16

Page Pattern Description: By changing the center "spot" from a 4.375 square to a 2.125 inch square this  variation on the basic pinwheel design allows space for four larger photos: two landscape (4.375 x 5.5) & two portrait (4.375 x 6.625) shots.I call this a "variation of a chunky pinwheel" because to be a "true pinwheel" the pattern should be the same in all four sections.
