"TV season" is winding down. American Idol has ended. House has ended, Grey's Anatomy is done, Ugly Betty has said good bye, and those who have yet to say good bye (probably because they are LOST) will be saying good bye soon as well.
So, what are we going to do with all of that extra time?!!
May I suggest a few hours getting to know your camera and creating a Mosaic Moment or two!
Have I mentioned that Mosaic Moments make great gifts?
My SIL has a birthday in June. While I was in Washington visiting I had the opportunity to snap a few shots of her and my brother while taking a nature walk at the Bloedel Reserve. I decided to make a "happy birthday" mosaic from some of the photos I thought she would enjoy.
This was a simple photo mosaic that took less than an hour to create.
Step 1. Choose and print photos. (For this project, I selected photos with a green, black, & white color palette.)
Step 2. Determine Grid Paper size/color and lay out photos to determine approximate location it will be placed on the grid paper.
Step 3. Cut photos - (using the simple Mosaic Moments count and cut system) start with largest pieces and add small "mosaic cut" pieces to fill in. (see finished page above.)
You may notice a few differences from the above "layout of photos" and the finished page.
- The photo of rocks & moss didn't make it into the finished page - I decided it wasn't needed.
- I switched the location of a couple of photos during the process. (I made the change because I wanted the couple on the path lead "into" not "out of" the page.)
Laying my photos out helps me to visualize the finished page. But, I always use removable adhesive so, creative flow isn't hindered - remaining flexible is part of the process.
Do you know someone with a collection they love? or someone who recently bought a new house? or someone who has: a beautiful garden, children, recently been engaged, loves a certain place or lives near something beautiful?
There are many wonderful subjects for making photo mosaics and though they make wonderful scrapbook pages they also make beautiful wall art! So, Mosaic Moments make great gifts - for those who have scrapbooks and for those who don't.
