Last week I did a little confessing about the things I don't always do. The process left me inspired to tell what I do...instead
We all have to make choices, because there are only so many hours in the day. Once I realized I couldn't "do it all" and still enjoy my life, I decided to narrow chores to those that take top priority and learn to live with a little imperfection. So...
Instead of cleaning the toilets, I plant flowers and weed my vegetable garden.
Instead of regularly making dinner, I work on web stuff - like this "Oh My Word" post.Instead of clearing out dust bunnies, Cole and I play "build a bridge" with Duplo.
Instead of sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming all the floors in my house daily, I teach Alexis how to do stuff like finding a common denominator; so, she can add fractions.
Instead of straightening my desk and organizing my home office regularly, I pack to go to scrapbook conventions.
Instead of fighting the never ending "laundry battle," I let the hampers fill up, while I hold Cole on my lap and sing "I can sing a rainbow" with the Wiggleworms.
Of course the toilets, the laundry, the sweeping, and the straightening can't be put off forever. At some point they become the top priority. Then I'd have to say: "Instead of writing a new blog, I did my laundry today."
The point is, we all need to give ourselves a bit of a break for those things that didn't get done, or when we weren't the most perfect.
Next time you find yourself focused on imperfections, or what you didn't do, take a moment to ponder...
What did you do instead?
I chose Nueva because of it's very high stroke contrast, with round, bouncy counterforms and stroke shapes. Nueva is extremely versatile, offering lots of choices, because it is a multiple master display typeface.
