A few years ago I asked Kevin's brothers and Sisters to share the stories of how they met and married their spouses for a family reunion. When the reunion came, we set aside time to get together and read each story in front of the group. There were a lot of laughs and I learned so much about Kevin's siblings and their spouses - it has been one of my all time favorite family reunion moments.
Last June I started out to write a "happy anniversary tribute" to Kevin. It took longer than I expected to finish and ended up as a combination of 16 posts. (If you weren't able to follow along - you can always find the entire 16 posts under the category "Love Story.") Now that I am finally finished I want to ask you - Where does your
begin? It may have been years ago, or it may be in progress now. I want to encourage you to pick up a pencil, or your key board, and write everything you can remember about those first days/months/years with that person you love.
Why? Well, I am no Dr. Phil, and I am certainly not Dr. Ruth; but, I can tell you, with confidence, if you take the time to write your story it will be worth more than you can imagine. The process of writing "your story" will make you feel closer to the person you love. It will make them feel closer to you and those feelings of joy will return again and again as you read and reread your story.
So, you aren't sure where to begin? Here are a few ideas:
- Things that brought you together
- Who made the first move
- The day you met
- Your first date
- First impressions
Of course, it isn't as important where you begin as it is that you begin.
And if you feel like sharing - I'd love to hear your story or your thoughts about writing your story.
