All About April

Kevin is at the GASC in Chantilly.  I stayed home which gave me a little time to work on my YTR 2008 Calendar album. I have been getting a little behind. So, today I printed my April photos. It amazes me how quickly I can forget about things. I am grateful to have photos to spark my memory.

For the sake of not falling too far behind I kept my April pages straight forward. No time for extra stamping or embellishments. I let "before and after braces" and "new recipe" photos take center stage with a little extra journaling to fill in the blanks. I didn't use the Velveteen Rabbit CornerStone (I'll save him for another project); but, I added a 2008 year CornerStone.

Feeling Good!

Have I mentioned how much I love spring? One of the best things about spring is, it is the beginning of longer, brighter, warmer days!

I have to admit I am feeling pretty good about being "caught up" with the year. It may not last - as things get busier during the summer months; but, with the foundation for my pages all done, I think there is hope for finishing this album as planned!

This month I used a graphic floral stamp from my "clearly spring" stamp collection to create a sunny yellow pattern on the calendar page. I chose just a few of the floral shapes and added the William Lawson quote, "What was paradise but a garden," for an extra touch of green and additional interest.

I had more photos than I had spaces so, I used two half size photos (vs one large photo) to fill the large PaperTile in the bottom left corner of the right page.

FYI - Filling in blank calendar dates with small photos or strips (as shown) is simple using the 1/8 inch grid on your Mosaic Moments Mat - each square is 1 3/8 inch wide by 1 4/8 inch high.

February Fun - not forgotten!

Has anyone ever asked you, "What have you been up to?" and you feel like you have been so caught up in "doing" that you can't remember what you've done? If I didn't keep a journal I think I would forget entire months!

I have a tendency to focus on scrapbooking the "big moments" in our lives. This year I determined to preserve the "small stuff." The things that fill our days, but do not usually fill our albums. That is why I pre-designed an entire album (A Year to Remember 2008) - it is now sitting there beckoning me to fill it! I really need that motivation - otherwise time flies, procrastination takes form, and my goal is forgotten along with the memories.

I have only finished two months but I love this album. I love how quickly the pages come together. I am trying to keep it simple - I add a little stamping, a few brads, and this month I added a prototype of a product I have been working on (for about 3 years now) I call them taglets.

(If you like "taglets" let me know. It may motivate me to finally get them on our product list.)

my spot

I have been fretting (that is just a notch below whining) over not having a "space of my own" to work on scrapbooks. You probably didn't think I could relate to that dilemma did you? Well, there was a time when I had plenty of space but, after the little guy (Cole) came into my life I opted to move to a smaller office building and relocate design/production to the basement of my home (so I could be home with my baby and still be involved with day to day business.) It has been great - the best decision ever... but, space has become an issue.

So, my sweet husband got into spring cleaning mode and turned our "was supposed to be a guest room" into a craft room. I share the room with Alexis and Cole (where I go they go); but, I get my own counter space!

I decided to break in my new work space  by playing a little catch up. I finally finished the January pages for my "Year to Remember" album.

January was not the most eventful month for us. I didn't take a lot of pictures; but, that is okay because my goal for this album is to remember the day to day things - those random events (and not so great photos) that usually don't end up in my scrapbooks.
