I have always been creative - drawing and writing since I was big enough to hold a crayon. As a child I loved to write stories about woodland animals. I had a particular fondness for bunnies.
My childhood hero was Charles Schultz - I spent hours drawing Snoopy dressed in everything from a simple dog collar to a Superman costume. I also loved Holly Hobbie as a little girl and continue to love her work with some of my favorite characters, Toot and Puddle.
Early in my artistic studies I thought I wanted to work for Hallmark and design greeting cards and gift-wrap. As I began taking a variety of courses, I found that I loved page design, photography, and typography just as much as I enjoyed illustration.
I graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
After graduation - while my classmates were out finding jobs in advertising agencies, etc. Kevin and I decided to add a second child to our family. I guess you could say it was Alexis who introduced me to my current love for scrapbooking. I started making a scrapbook for her, just as I had our oldest daughter, but found that all sorts of new products were available - with long term preservation being the focus.
It has been very exciting to be part of a growing industry that includes all of my favorite elements - photography, illustration, journaling, and page design.
Currently I am a wife, and a mother of three - a teen, a grade schooler and a toddler. We live in an amazing place that we love - Williamsburg, Virginia. I am also the creator of Mosaic Moments, the founder of Wish in the Wind, LLC, and author of Simple Steps to Mosaic Success and Designing Photo Mosaics and More.
