This tin held a wallet we had purchased for Brandon last year for his birthday. I knew I had to save it for a future project. I am making a set of thank you cards for a friend who has been in the hospital. This will make the perfect place to hold the cards, postage and a pen.

 

I started by painting the lid with two coats of white paint.

 

Then I used ink pads to distress and add a bit of color.

I then added 4 one inch strips of paper around the bottom of the tin leaving just enough space for the lid.

 

I cut a 4 x 4 1/4 piece of green cardstock and rounded the corners and adhered it to the lid. I then trimmed a 4x4 Ivory RTC Grid paper measuring 3 1/2 x 3 1/2, rounded opposite corners and inked the edges with orange ink.Cut a piece of pattern paper measuring 1 x 3 1/4 and adhere to middle of the RTC.

 

Using various stamps from the Clearly Spring and TypeStack-All Seasons stamp sets, ink and stamp images onto Ivory Paper Tiles. Ink edges with orange ink adhere to RTC. Apply ribbon, embellish with rhinestones and adhere to green cardstock.

   

Stamp flower image from Clearly Spring stamp set with green ink onto a one inch ivory tile, stamp image again using orange ink on an ivory tile. Cut out flower and adhere to first image stamped in green. Distress edges with orange ink.

   

Stamp flower border image from the TypeStacks-All Season each time with a different ink on to a one inch ivory tile and embellish with rhinestones. Distress edges with orange ink.

 

For this area I used stamps from the TypeStacks-All Seasons set. I placed all three images on my stamp block to get my positioning correct. I then removed the word SPRING, inked the remaining images in green ink and stamped them onto a 1 x 2 1/8 ivory paper tile. I then stamped the word SPRING with orange ink in the middle of the previously stamped images. Distress edges with orange ink and adhere to card. By using the clear stamps and a clear block you can see exactly where you are stamping.

Mosaic Moments

 

Hi! Janine's here 'filling in' for Sandi's Mosaic Monday.

I made this clock for my craft studio. The second hand on the clock I currently use was making a lot of noise. When I was on the phone, people would ask me what the ticking noise was. So, I decided to recycle the workings of another clock that made no noise at all. The color scheme in my studio is green and white with a touch of purple. I used K & Company papers from my vast paper collection. You know, the kind you buy because you like it and one day will get around to using it. Well today was that day.

Start by randomly stamping images onto an 8x8 piece of purple cardstock, then punch with the Threading Water border punch by Fiskars, on all four sides. 

Next, cut a piece of purple pattern paper 6 3/4 x 6 3/4 adhere to the center of purple cardstock. Then cut a 6 1/2 x 6 1/2 piece of light green pattern paper, randomly stamp images in purple ink mount on to purple paper.

Next adhere a Black Mosaic Moments 6x6 Grid Paper onto the light green pattern paper.

Cut 16 various pattern papers, 5 green and 4 purple cardstock into one inch squares. Using Clearly Numbers stamp set and purple ink, stamp numbers 12, 3, 6 and 9 onto the green cardstock and place in the appropriate spaces on the grid, fill in with remaining papers until you have the spaces filled.

Find the center of the grid and cut a hole to fit the clock. Assemble and attach hands.

Mosaic : 3D

 

What better way to pop a focal picture than to give it height and prominence?  In this mosaic, I decided to do just that to highlight my favorite photo from a trip to the beach.  While it was not warm at the beach, it was certainly sunny so it was just right for shaking off those mid-winter blues.

 

 My focal photo trimmed 4x4 is mounted on white cardstock trimmed 4 3/8 x 4 3/8.  I placed this on top of a piece of black mosaic grid paper that I trimmed 1/8" around a 4 squares by 4 squares block.  This is adhered to my page with a double layer of foam dimensional tape.

I know that I will use this idea over and over.  It would make a great gift or home decor item when framed.  Enjoy!

Valentine's cards

 

Seriously, this RTC grid paper makes great cards! 

I worked with the 4x4 grid in white and ivory.  I found Inkadinkado "inchies" stamps at my JoAnn's (and they were on sale 40% off - Score!)  I knew they would be perfect for grid cards.  I stamped them on cardstock and then used a 1" Fiskars square punch to punch them out for a quick and easy card front.

 

Aren't these little stamps perfect for this?

 I trimmed the RTC down to 1/8" border on all four sides.  I added a red cardstock mat (approx 4" x 4") that I used scallop decorative scissors to cut and then adhered that to a patterned paper card.

 

For "be mine" I punched 9 squares out of off-white cardstock.  I stamped my letter in the middle of the square and then stamped second generation text* on top in black (*stamp once on scrap paper lightly and then stamp lightly on your project for a lighter background look). Inked all sides with Chestnut Roan chalk ink. I wrote "be mine" all around the card and used a K&Co. heart sticker on a dimensional dot.

 

Same as "Flowers" with a red ribbon for accent along with red sticker heart.  This card was made by my sister, Steffani,  who came over to craft with me and decided to give RTC a try.  I think she gets an A!

Note: no M&Ms were wasted in this photo shoot.  I promptly and happily ate them! : )
