If you are like me, chances are that you belong to a few online sites where you participate in scrapbooking challenges. And if you usually wait for a challenge that asks for a grid or a mosaic or blocking to use Tami Potter and Mosaic Moments Grid Paper, then it may be time to start thinking outside the box – while keeping inside the grid of course!
The challenge I’m entering this month is a recipe challenge that requires participants use the following ingredients.
- A single photo
- The color red
- Stamping
- A banner
When I took a look at this month’s featured Grid Paper I knew it would be perfect for this challenge. The Granite paper is an elegant neutral gray that goes well with just about anything!
The color gray is said to represent wisdom and its classic dignity suggests authority. Gray is the perfect neutral against which practically any other color pops.
Since my challenge was to showcase the color red, the cool gray of the Granite Grid Paper was the ideal backdrop for my page. And since I could use only one photo, I was able to showcase the gray grids by punching one-inch squares out of some gray lined paper. Of course, you could always paint the backside of a piece of grid paper and punch that into squares too, if you are good with paint. (note to self – give that technique a try!).
After choosing my photo, I again turned to Tami Potter and Mosaic Moments to add the required ingredient of red to my recipe. The Paper Tiles packet comes with 55 pieces in every size from 1-inch squares to 6 1/4x4 ¾ - perfect for matting photos. These made perfect accents for my page!
The Clearly Calendar Stamp Set provided just the right circular shape I needed so I stamped this on one of the red tiles and cut out the circle.I also used the reverse side of White Grid Paper to make another circle. And adhered the two circles to my page with a brad. Now the calendar circle moves out of the way to reveal my journaling hand-written behind it.
The banner is stamped on the reverse side of White Grid Paper and strung on a piece of twine. Thickers letters provide the title and Whalah! my recipe cooked up to my satisfaction.
Check out these products from SnapNCrop.com and I’m sure you’ll find lots of ways to use Grid Paper in your online challenges, too!
