It's all in the past
In the past few decades we've said "Good Bye" to a lot of things:
1. Film (I fully embraced digital photography in 2003 - by the end of the year I had completely given up using my film camera.)
2. Typewriters (last time I used one was 1983 in a typing class.)
3. Vinyl Records, Cassette tapes, and VHS movies (last time I purchased a vinyl record was in middle school.)
4. Phone Booths (Freshman year in college this was my only source of communication with my mom & Dad.)
5. Hand crank car windows. (My first car had hand crank windows.)
6. The Berlin Wall - (my sister-in-law has a piece of it.)
7. Smoking in public buildings (my eyes and nose are so grateful for this.)
What's "gone missing" in your world? Add your list in the comments section to be entered in our weekly drawing.
Some additional things that have gone missing in my world:
1. Getting cards, letters and invitations in the mail (these seem to be all electronic these days)
2. Catalogs (I really miss getting that type of junk mail)
3. Kids (Mine are grown and neither live at home anymore)
4. Being bored (Some days I wish I had time to be bored!)

1. Me time - I never knew how much I needed it until I had kids!
2. Loneliness - My husband and kids sure fill-in any voids!
3. Plays and fancy dinners - they've been replaced by kids movies and spaghetti dinners.
4. My 9-5 job - except it was more of an 8-7 job. And now I work 24/7 as a stay-at-home mom!
But, as the saying goes...
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most!
Lol!

What's gone missing:
1. Handwritten notes & letters - everyone uses email...
2. Vinyl albums, 8-track tapes, cassette tapes - what to do with all of them, especially when the turntable dies?
3. Film - everything is digital these days
4. Manual typewriters, even old word processors - all replaced by computers, and it is SO much easier
5. Snowy big old black and white tv - replaced by sleek color hi-def
6. Time - with all the 'time savers' invented, why don't we have more time???
7. The days when kids could just go out and play and 'be home before dark' and you didn't worry until dark.
Some of these are an improvement, but I sure do miss getting a REAL letter in my mailbox.

1. Quarters for the laundry machine! Growing up in an apartment in the city meant the laundry room was in the basement and you needed quarters! I remember my Mom collecting all week for laundry day.
2. A pot of coffee...now it's just single serving Keurig.
3. Telephones with cords..although I can always use my Mom's since she hasn't gone cordless yet!
4. Same with VCR. She hasn't converted to DVD let alone Tivo or DVR.
5.Summers with both kids away in sleepaway camp!!
6.Walking anywhere and everywhere in NYC. We moved out several years ago and I miss just being able to walk in the city.
7. Good Chinese food. It doesn't exist where I live now.
8. The World Trade Center.

1. Money and energy - I have less...don't know where it goes.
2. Time - it goes much faster
3. My 35mm film camera - just gave it to Goodwill last week, but haven't used it for years. Don't know why it took me so long to get rid of it?
4. Paying bills w/checks and envelopes and US mail, pay mostly on line or paypal.
5. Kids - all married and moved out.
