Memories of the Big Top
A couple of years ago Kevin took our three children to the circus. It was held in the Hampton Colosseum about 30 minutes from where we live. It was both Alexis and Cole's first time at the circus.
The first time I went to the circus:
1. I lived in Portland Oregon.
2. I went with a group of children from my neighborhood.
3. We (actually a parent in charge) purchased the circus tickets with money we had received from winning a blue ribbon in the Children's Rose Festival parade.
4. It was a big circus with three rings and there was saw dust all over the ground.
5. We sat very close to the front - (may have even been the front row - I guess that blue ribbon prize money got us some really good seats.)
6. My favorite part were the horses.

The first time I went to the circus:
Is when I brought my 2 oldest children to circus held at the local Ice arena.
the children's tickets were free from a school reading contest.
My favorite part was feeling the smile across my face and watching the excitement in my children's eyes.
I have never been again but have Ringling Bros Barnum & Bailey Circus on my "Bucket List"

I don't remember the first time I went to the circus, but the Shrine Circus came to Bangor each year. My grandfather was a Shriner and they had tickets to sell - he just bought them and gave them to the grandchildren, so it was nearly an annual event. I liked:
1. The music
2. The cotton candy
3. The clowns
4. The lions and tigers
5. The high wire act - even though it was hard to watch because I was afraid of heights (still am...)
Then when I was in maybe 4th grade, my parents took me to Boston to see the Ringling Bros. Circus - so much bigger and more impressive than the local circus I was used to - a real adventure!

The circus:
Every year the circus would come to a ballfield in our small town. My older sisters would walk us younger kids down to the big event. On the way home we would stop at the bakery, they would be making donuts for the next day...mmmm....we never thought anything about walking home in the dark, unlike today...I wouldnt even consider letting my grandchildren walk to town

The first time I went to the circus I was about 8 years old... it was the Ringling Bros. Barnum & Bailey circus and they came to the Hartford Civic Center. My Mom bought tickets and took my brother and I as well as my grandparents...
1.) I remember feeling very excited when I saw the three rings and the announcer came out all dressed up in a tuxedo...there was so much going on all at once!
2) I loved seeing the elephants hold each other's tails with their trunks but I remember thinking they looked so sad...
3) My favorite act was the beautiful trapeze artists...they made swinging through the air looks so effortless...
4.) I remember being startled by the lions but laughing at the clowns!

I've been to the circus one time. My older sister took me. I was pretty young and don't remember much except seeing lots of large animals, trapeze and cotton candy.
